English Proficiency Requirement

International applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit proof of English proficiency. Applicants must meet one of the two options below.

Undergraduate International Students

The English proficiency can be satisfied by submitting a minimum test score of one of the following:

Option 1: Submit official TOEFL (school code 6550) or IELTS score: 

TOEFL score of 525 for the paper-based test OR 71 for the Internet-based test (iBT). 
IELTS Academic score of 6.0.

Option 2 - Waiver Policy:

  • Freshmen: Freshmen must have at least three years of high school in the United States with a diploma or equivalent United States high school diploma in an English-speaking country. Contact OLLU International Admissions Counselor for list of exempt English-speaking countries.
  • Undergraduate Transfers: Undergraduates must have 12 undergraduate U.S. college/university level credits with at least a 2.0 GPA. This does not include ESL or Developmental non-credit classes.

Graduate International Students

The English proficiency can be satisfied by submitting a minimum test score of one of the following:

Submit official TOEFL (school code 6550) or IELTS score: 

TOEFL score of 550 for the paper-based test or 79 for the Internet Based Test (IBT)
IELTS Academic score of 6.5.
