Social Work Distance Education 2022 Virtual Conference
Leveraging Lessons Learned
April 6-8, 2022
Hosted by: Our Lady of the Lake University Worden School of Social Service
A completely virtual experience is planned for the 2022 conference.
During 2020 and 2021 our society was impacted by multiple epidemics that encompassed social justice, medical and mental health crises, and political unrest. Major elements that demanded action included a focus on the impact of COVID-19, dismantling structural racism, analyzing policing policies, and living with political discourse. Our profession was called to action on multiple levels and these demands highlighted both strengths and areas of growth needed within social work education. The 2022 SWDE conference will focus on how lessons learned during 2020-2021 can be leveraged to strengthen the education of future social work professionals.
As our world begins to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic, there is
still much uncertainty. Virus variants remain unpredictable throughout the US and
internationally. In addition, many universities are financially recovering from the
pandemic impact, necessitating continued limitation of faculty travel budgets. Given
these uncertainties, and to ensure that a wide audience can participate, the SWDE
2022 Conference will be held fully virtual. We look forward to offering a hybrid
formatted conference in 2023.
