Social Work Distance Education Conference

Removing Barriers and Expanding Borders Through Social Work Distance Education

2020 SWDE Conference Canceled

Given the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and a review of the SWDE survey responses, it has become apparent that the virtual launch of the 2020 SWDE conference is not fiscally viable this year and the conference has been fully canceled.

The SWDE proposal committee will provide the opportunity for all approved presentations to transfer to next year's conference, which will be held April 14-16, 2021. By April 30, 2020, all currently approved primary presenters will receive contact from SWDE to establish their preference in transitioning presentations to the 2021 conference.

Registration Refunds

Registration refunds for the 2020 conference will be provided using one of the following two options (please allow 6-8 weeks for processing):

  1. Full 100% refund credited back to the original form of payment (administration fee has been waived)
  2. Transition $400 of paid registration to cover the full cost of early bird registration for the 2021 conference. Any amount exceeding $400 will be credited back to the original form of payment.

In order to process your refund, please respond using the SWDE Registration Refund Method Selection so that your requests are captured accurately.

April 15-17, 2020 • Sheraton Gunter Hotel • San Antonio • Texas

Hosted by: Our Lady of the Lake University Worden School of Social Service

The social work profession strives to fight injustices and empower underserved communities. Through distance education, we can achieve global connection. Distance education can be utilized to reach potential students who may not have access to the social work profession. Social work education, provided through a distance-learning platform, allows students to grow where they live, enhancing social justice and reaching global communities.

In this high-speed, tech-driven world, it is more important than ever to share with and learn from one another. Together, we strive to create a meaningful and effective learning environment for our growing student communities.
