Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) Master of Science in Organizational Leadership enhances the leadership skills of dedicated professionals in a wide range of fields, including education, public service business and health care administration.  The interdisciplinary degree combines theory and application in order to graduate “practitioner-scholars” who can provide enlightened leadership in communities and at the workplace. 

Program Design

The MSOL is a 30 hour program (five semester program - two courses each semester). Courses are offered in various formats -- Face-to-Face, Hybrid, and Hy-Flex. Students have the choice to attend in person or to connect remotely.  The program is also offered on the Rio Grande Valley campus  and Houston campus .

Available Programs

This is a 30-credit hour program that allows students to pursue either a full leadership concentration or an interdisciplinary concentration. The program combines theory and fieldwork to graduate "practitioner-scholars" who can provide enlightened leadership in the workplace.

MSOL degree plan and course descriptions

Building on the foundation of the traditional MSOL program, the addition of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) places added emphasis on business affairs related to leadership positions. The dual degree can be achieved with the addition of 18 credit hours (six classes). Students must be accepted into both programs individually.

MSOL/MBA degree plan and course descriptions

Students in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program can add a master's degree in Organizational Leadership by taking six additional courses (18 credit hours). This dual degree gives business leaders added skills and knowledge of the theories and practices of ethical leadership. Students must be accepted into both programs individually.

MBA/MSOL degree plan and course descriptions

Students pursuing the MSOL program have the option of extending their studies in pursuit of the doctoral degree (PhD) in Leadership Studies. This 93-credit hour program gives students a comprehensive study of research methodology, ethics, teamwork, communication and strategy. Designed for those who have advanced to more complex leadership positions, this program will help students develop into sophisticated leaders who are ready to assume executive level responsibility and strategic visioning roles.

Accreditation

This business program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). ACBSP is a leading specialized accreditation association for business education, supporting, celebrating and rewarding excellence on a diverse global scale.

Community Focus

In addition to studying leadership with interdisciplinary professors and student colleagues, the curriculum stresses ethics, servant leadership and welcomes faith-based principles of leadership and stewardship.

New students are welcomed and candidates are advanced in a formal convocation ceremony held in the university's Sacred Heart Chapel.

Brown bag lunches, semester luncheons at which we recognize student achievements, and holiday events all help form a learning community with members who support each other.

Faculty

Full-time faculty members with extensive business experience teach in the School of Business and Leadership. Many of the full-time faculty members have doctoral degrees and/or professional designations. Seasoned practitioners who teach selected courses complement full-time professors.   • Two letters of professional recommendation regarding the applicant's leadership qualities and potential for graduate work
  • Résumé of professional work experience
  • 3-5 page personal statement

Priority Admission Deadlines

Fall semester - July 15

Spring semester - Dec. 1

Applications received after these dates will be considered on a space-available basis. Final deadline is two weeks prior to the start of classes.
