Curriculum Vitae

Areas of Expertise

Trauma studies, contemporary theologies including intersectionality within feminist work, queer theologies, Catholic theology, liberation studies and embodiment as a site for theological discovery. My work explores the power of wounds to identify aspects of divine becoming in our world.

Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy of teaching is to make theology a part of everyday life for learners, always contextualized within our socio-political moment. Everyone's story is part of the theological enterprise but not in equivalent ways. As someone who could not assume I belonged in college, I still hold fast to the possibility of engagement through stories, art, music, kinetic activities and, at times, encounter with the suffering of others. I challenge learners to find their footing in this kind of space to see how varied the textures of our lives can be in this enormous weaving of grace and goodness. As such, I also hold up a mirror for them to see their intrinsic worth and to affirm them as agents of justice in our world, called to bring about change so all persons can thrive.

Outside Interests

I love hiking, fishing, swimming in rivers, Indie music, art festivals, dance performances, spoken word presentations, theater and cooking. I also enjoy creative writing and running. I am at my best when out exploring nature.
