Jaelyn Garza -- Criminology - Fall 2022 Senior Spotlight

Dec 06, 2022

Jaelyn Garza
Major: Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a minor in Forensic Science
Campus Activities: OLLU Cheer, Dance and Drumline, President of the Multicultural Alliance in Peace and Society Organization, National Honor Society of Leadership and Success and the IFCC Student Activity Assistant

Impact of OLLU: OLLU has made a tremendous impact on me, allowing me to further my education and be the first in my family to graduate. OLLU has made me more confident in my life choices, and in myself. OLLU and this experience always reminded me to persevere and accomplish the goals that I set in my life. OLLU helped me grow into the adult I am now.

An important lesson learned: I learned that many obstacles may alter your path, but as long as you keep your head up and keep going your goals will come to light. I learned to cherish these moments you will not get back as you will graduate and go on in life.

Plans for the future: I hope to apply what I have learned throughout my time at OLLU and accept a job as a crime scene investigator. I recently received a job opportunity as a crime scene technician in the forensic department. While considering this opportunity I am currently exploring other opportunities presented to me within the criminal justice field. I will continue my education to strive for my master’s after years of experience in the criminal justice field. Thank you to my parents, this would not be possible without them.
