Our Lady of the Lake University – One Year Later
An update on OLLU’s progress since the May 6 fire that devastated Main Building
Enrollment rose one percent in the fall and three percent in the spring. This marked
the first increase since 2002.
Current total enrollment is 2,467 students.
Enrollment breakdown: 1,477 undergraduates, 990 graduate students. Campuses
are located in San Antonio, Houston, Rio Grande Valley and online.
In the two weeks after the fire, the OLLU Office of Admissions received 138
applications, a record for that time of year.
Donations increased 84 percent from the previous year.
There has been a 24 percent increase in donors.
The rebuilding campaign has raised $2.4 million through corporations, foundations,
alumni and individuals.
Two of OLLU’s leading corporate citizens – Valero and AT&T – have stepped
forward to publicly announce that they believe in OLLU’s vision and direction by providing the University with $1 million.
The gift from the Valero Energy Foundation – the charitable arm of Valero Energy
Corporation – will go toward the rebuilding fund.
The AT&T Foundation – the philanthropic arm of AT&T – will announce on May 6,
2009, a grant that will support the university’s higher education initiatives.
Plans will be unveiled on May 6, 2009, for Main Building by Kell-Muñoz Architects
and Bartlett Cocke General Contractors, including how they are preserving Main’s
historic significance while creating a contemporary learning environment.
Main will become the front porch of the University.
Completion of Main is scheduled for fall 2010.
