OLLU alumni spotlights:
Joe J. Bernal, (MEd ’54), is a former member of the Texas Senate and Texas House of Representatives. He currently serves as a member of the Texas State Board of Education.
Rita Esquivel, (BA Sociology ’53, MEd ’60), is the former director of Bilingual Education for the U.S. Department of Education and was named by Hispanic Business Magazine in 1991 as one of the 100 most influential Hispanics in the nation.
Rodrigo Marin Jr., MEd ’79 School Administration, was a member of the U.S. Olympic Fencing Team. Active in community affairs, Marin is a member of the Greater Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Chamber, the San Antonio Estate Planners Council, the San Antonio Health Underwriters (currently serving on the board), the San Antonio Life Underwriters and the San Antonio Tennis Association. He also is the recipient of the Texas Leader Roundtable Industry Award.
