The Business Department offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting. Students who major in accounting work as accountants or auditors in almost any sector, including government, nonprofit organizations, and for-profit companies. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of accountants and auditors is expected to grow 16 percent from 2010-2020 since the demand for thorough financial documentation is expected to increase in response to recent financial crises. 


MEET AN ACCOUNTING MAJOR
Upon completion of this degree, graduates can seek certification in an accounting-related area such as the Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Financial Planner credentials. Those who wish to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam must go on to receive a Master of Science in Accounting

Accounting majors have the opportunity to join the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA). ALPFA works to enhance opportunities for business students while expanding Latino leadership in the global workforce and advancing the Latino culture in the professional business community.
