The Business Department offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting. Students who major in accounting work as accountants or auditors in almost any sector, including government, nonprofit organizations, and for-profit companies. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of accountants and auditors is expected to grow 16 percent from 2010-2020 since the demand for thorough financial documentation is expected to increase in response to recent financial crises.
Upon completion of this degree, graduates can seek certification in an accounting-related area such as the Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Financial Planner credentials. Those who wish to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam must go on to receive a Master of Science in Accounting.
