Worden School of Social Service

The Worden School of Social Service is home to Our Lady of the Lake University's Bachelor of Social Work and the Master of Social Work programs. As the first school of  social work in Texas, established more than 70 years ago, OLLU has set the standards for social work education, and is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. OLLU social work graduates can be found in every sector of social service in San Antonio and the region. In 2009, the Worden School of Social Service won the coveted Council on Social Work Education Presidential Award for Excellence in Social Work Education and in April 2015, won the Outstanding Commitment to Excellence and Innovation in Distance Learning by a 4-Year Higher Education Organization presented by Texas Distance Learning Association.

Sensitivity to cultural and ethnic differences is the key to Worden School's mission and commitment to working with at-risk populations, with special emphasis on Hispanic children and families. At the undergraduate level, students can earn a biliterate (English-Spanish) certificate with the BSW and/or a certificate in Violence Prevention and Intervention.
