Organizational Leadership degrees offered:

  • Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL)
    • This is a 36-credit hour program that allows students to pursue either a full leadership concentration or an interdisciplinary concentration. The program combines theory and fieldwork to graduate “practitioner-scholars” who can provide enlightened leadership in the workplace.

  • Organizational Leadership/Business Administration (MSOL/MBA)
    • Building on the foundation of the traditional MSOL program, the addition of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) places added emphasis on business affairs related to leadership positions. The dual degree can be achieved with the addition of 18 credit hours (6 classes). Students must be accepted into both programs individually.

  • Business Administration/Organizational Leadership (MBA/MSOL)
    • Students in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program can add a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership by taking 6 additional classes (18 credit hours). This dual degree gives business leaders added skills and knowledge of the theories and practices of ethical leadership. Students must be accepted into both programs individually.

  • Organizational Leadership/Leadership Studies (MSOL/PhD)
    • Students pursuing the MSOL program have the option of extending their studies in pursuit of the doctoral degree in Leadership Studies. This 93-credit hour program gives students a comprehensive study of research methodology, ethics, teamwork, communication and strategy. Designed for those who have advanced to more complex leadership positions, this program will help students develop into sophisticated leaders who are ready to assume executive level responsibility and strategic visioning roles.

  • Priority Admission Deadlines

    Spring semester - Nov. 1

    Applications received after these dates will be considered on a space-available basis. Final deadline is two weeks prior to the start of classes.

    Admission Requirements

    • Application and nonrefundable application fee
    • Official graduate and undergraduate transcripts
    • Two letters of professional recommendation regarding the applicant's leadership qualities and potential for graduate work
    • Resume of professional work experience
    • 3-5 page personal statement


    All of the Leadership Studies Department full-time faculty members hold doctoral degrees. In addition, they have extensive professional experience from the business, education, public service, military and nonprofit fields. They bring the combination of academic and professional experience to the classroom to develop leadership skills in students that carry across all disciplines.
