Education - Master's Degrees

Our Lady of the Lake University has several master's degree programs to prepare professional educators to understand and meet the needs of a diverse student population; function in a global society; be life-long learners; and gain the skills and vision needed to be leaders in schools faced with the challenges of today.

Master of Education (MEd)

The Master of Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction offers the following concentrations:

Students complete required foundation courses as well as courses tailored for the concentration. The content courses, combined with curriculum and instruction foundation courses, prepare teachers to hone their craft and content expertise as well as be an instructional leader at their schools.  

Master of Arts

A Graduate Principal Certificate is also available.

Admission Requirements

  • Completed OLLU application and nonrefundable application fee
  • An earned baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Official, sealed transcripts from all regionally accredited institutions previously attended
  • A personal statement
  • List of two academic or personal sources and their contact information
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) on undergraduate work and a 3.0 for the last 60 hours
  • If cumulative GPA is below 3.0, applicants must have a satisfactory score on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within the last five years
  • An interview arranged by the department 
  • Any international applicants must also submit a passing score of 26 or higher on the speaking section of the TOEFL-IBT, per state guidelines for demonstration of oral communication skills prior to admission to teacher education
  • Completed FERPA Consent to Release Education Records and Information form-Written consent release of test records to certification officer and program faculty

Admission Deadline

The deadline for submitting a completed application is Nov. 1 for spring admission, May 1 for summer admission and July 1 for fall admission.
