COMMUNICATION AND LEARNING DISORDERS DEGREE WITH BILITERATE OPTION

When people who speak Spanish have speech disorders they need a professional who can communicate with them. Successful diagnosis and treatment requires a common language. Students who choose the biliterate option with a communication disorders degree will be prepared to work in a variety of settings where English and Spanish-speaking clients are served. All students majoring in communication disorders are required to minor in psychology and part of the biliterate option is completed through the minor.

Course Requirements:

  • Advanced Spanish Grammar, Reading, Composition I, II
  • Latino Psychology
  • Choose one of the following:
    • Civilization and Culture of Spain
    • Civilization and Culture of Latin America
    • Civilization and Culture of Mexico
    • Spanish in the United States
    • Mexican American Prose and Poetry
  • Practicum in Spanish-speaking setting with capstone project (Language Disorders in Children)
