BACHELOR OF ARTS - MULTIDISCIPLINARY STUDIES
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND LEADERSHIP 

The Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies is a multidisciplinary degree that combines classes from the social and behavioral sciences, communications and business to create a degree that teaches students the knowledge and skills needed to pursue career options in various businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies. The multidisciplinary degree provides students the opportunity to obtain a well-rounded background and hone their problem-solving skills.

Students pursing the bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary students will take courses in all of the following areas:

  • Social and behavioral sciences: courses in this area will help students identify social and behavioral patterns of people and learn how to translate that knowledge into a workplace setting to aid in problem-solving and having meaningful interactions with others.
  • Communications: courses in this area will teach students the foundations of mass communications such as the ability to develop correct and compelling oral and visual communications. Other courses, such as event planning and management and public relations, will also teach students how to put together events and messages for a variety of audiences.
  • Business: courses in this area will teach students the fundamentals of business including management, marketing, accounting and finance, as well as legal concepts of business. Students will use this knowledge to evaluate and respond to the organizational opportunities and challenges that businesses face.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the multidisciplinary studies program at OLLU, students will be able to display the following competencies:

  • Demonstrate the ability to use business and leadership knowledge to solve problems in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication skills commensurate with expectations of performance common in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate the use of human and social knowledge to successfully manage workplace expectations for interaction. 
The program is offered through the fast track program. The fast track program is made up of six terms per year - two in the fall, spring and summer semesters.
