The Mission and Ministry Office hopes to engage all those who are a part of the OLLU community in various ways in order to increase a deeper understanding of our OLLU MISSION as lived out in our campus community.
Some of the possible areas for exploration and discussion are: Catholic Identity, Catholic Higher Education, OLLU-CDP Heritage, Mission Education, Catholic Culture, Providence and Sponsorship.
The office will develop programs and initiatives in these areas for the students, staff, faculty, administration, alumni and Board of Trustees so that the mission of the University continues to be integrated in all facets of our community.
Providence Leadership Program (PLP)
The PLP program encourages students to develop their faith and assume leadership roles in ministry as a framework for living out their baptismal call flavored by the Providence charism.
Providence Parish Internship
Student interns have the opportunity to work in areas such as Parish Office Ministry, Youth Ministry and Religious Education. As part of the internship experience, Campus Ministry provides opportunities for theological reflection and weekly training in faith formation. The goal of the program is to engage students in direct ministry within the Hispanic community. Students are assigned a mentor from the parish and work closely with the Director of Campus Ministry on theological formation.
Providence Retreat Outreach
A series of retreats are planned throughout the school year engaging a team of students from OLLU who develop and lead the retreats.
Mexico Immersion Experience
Mexico Immersion Experience is a pilgrimage to La Luz Parish in Monterrey, Mexico. Students spend a week visiting the good people of La Luz Parish and immerse themselves into the lived experience of Catholic traditions of parish life in Mexico. Participants learn about ministry by ministering to the people, and the people of La Luz teach the OLLU pilgrims. The pilgrimage takes place every fall and spring semester. It is an opportunity to discover and appreciate another culture or one's own culture.
Additional programs are available through Campus Ministry and the Center for Women in Church and Society.
