FORENSIC LEAGUE SPEECH & DEBATE PROGRAM
The Roger A. Flores Speech and Debate Team seeks to train and inspire students in the skills of public speaking and the use of reasoned discourse in public life.
The Speech and Debate Team was founded in memory of Roger A Flores, a prominent businessman and civic leader from San Antonio.
Speech and debate programs have proven to be life-changing investments in developing the full potential of young men and women, building essential career skills and boosting their confidence and aspirations in life. The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) annual survey consistently ranks the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, as the top skill employers desire in new hires. Speech and debate experience is prudent preparation for careers in law, education, politics, broadcasting, religion, public affairs, business, and other professions that require strong persuasion and communication skills.
Speech and Debate programs help students excel in public speaking and sharpen research, critical thinking, presentation, judgment and performance skills. As a result, students learn to deliver more compelling and believable speeches.
Through participation in local, regional and national competitions students will have the opportunity to experience different parts of the country and expand their cultural horizons. Ultimately, the Roger A. Flores Speech and Debate Team will allow students to build enormous self-confidence and prepare them for their chosen career fields, leadership positions, and public service.
