Background:
I have been teaching in the Religious Studies department at Our Lady of the Lake University since 1989.
My professional background includes a Doctorate in religious studies and a Master’s in religious studies both at the Institut Catholique de Paris (1980); ecclesiastical degrees (licentiates) in theology (Institut d’Etudes Theologiques: 1972) and philosophy (Loyola University, Chicago: 1963), as well as a Master’s degree in classics (Loyola, Chicago: 1963). Before coming to Our Lady of the Lake, I taught theology at Marquette University (1979-1987), at the University of Scranton (1987-1988) and at Lasalle University (1988-1989). I am also a resigned Jesuit priest, having been ordained in 1971—resigned in 1989. My current outside interests include music (
member of the San Antonio Recorder Society
, ongoing student of piano), folk dancing (member of the Deutsche Volkstanzverein von San Antonio), and cycling.
