Biography:
John M. Trayhan, PhD, has been a member of the Our Lady of the Lake University faculty since 1997 and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the Political Science and Leadership Studies departments. In addition, he has served as the associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He also serves as the faculty sponsor for Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society.

In the community, Dr. Trayhan served as Place 3 councilmember for the City of Schertz, Texas.

Outside the classroom, Dr. Trayhan has more than 20 years experience working in municipal government. He has served as city manager of Cuero, Texas, and Kaufman, Texas. He also served as assistant to the city manager of Ennis, Texas, and aquatic supervisor of New Braunfels, Texas.

In his last position as city manager in Cuero, Dr. Trayhan assisted with obtaining $3.7 million in municipal grants, completed $4.1 million in capital improvements, reduced property taxes, increased city reserves by 66 percent, and is credited with various economic development successes.
