February 22, 2009: Literary Benefit III: After the Fire
The literary community in San Antonio and throughout Texas organized the third and largest benefit reading for OLLU on Feb. 22, 2009. Featured readers included national radio commentator Jim Hightower, Pulitzer Prize-nominated poet Cyrus Cassells, who is a professor of English at Texas State University; and Pamela Johnston, associate professor and English and Communication Studies department chair at Texas Lutheran University.

Oct. 11, 2008: Broadway Bank Benefit
OLLU's neighbor, Broadway Bank on West Commerce Street, held a community event to garner support from customers. The event included activities for children, a barbecue and a live radio remote.

Oct. 11, 2008: Tardeada de Música Romántica
The benefit concert featured pianist Jon Esquivel and OLLU’s
José Rubén De León
(pictured), a vocalist and musician who has performed several critically acclaimed one-man dramas and is the coordinator of liturgy and music at the University. Songs performed included classic Mexican and Cuban boleros. Proceeds supported the OLLU Rebuilding Fund.
