STATUS OF MAIN BUILDING
Updated: March 20, 2009
Remediation and clean up of Main Building began the morning after the fire and continued through June.
Remediation included a period of “drying out” saturated walls through the use of warm air in June and July.
Demolition and removal of the roof, attic and interior of the fourth floor was completed in early July.
Roof system for drainage was installed in July.
Building is now being treated with cool air beginning in August.
Clean-up and restoration of cafeteria wing on first floor began in June and continued through August.
City, fire, and health inspectors approved cafeteria for reopening Sept. 2.
The rebuilding of Main is under the direction of
Kell Muñoz Architects
as announced on Nov. 17, 2008.
Bartlett Cocke General Contractors
was hired as the general contractor as announced on Feb. 23, 2009.
