STATUS OF MAIN BUILDING

  • Remediation and clean up of Main Building began the morning after the fire and continued through June.

  • Remediation included a period of “drying out” saturated walls through the use of warm air in June and July.

  • Demolition and removal of the roof, attic and interior of the fourth floor was completed in early July.

  • Roof system for drainage was installed in July.

  • Building is now being treated with cool air beginning in August.

  • Clean-up and restoration of cafeteria wing on first floor began in June and continued through August.

  • City, fire, and health inspectors approved cafeteria for reopening Sept. 2. 

  • The rebuilding of Main is under the direction of Kell Muñoz Architects as announced on Nov. 17, 2008. 
  • Bartlett Cocke General Contractors was hired as the general contractor as announced on Feb. 23, 2009.
