If you are considering the Online Master Technology Teacher program, you should have or begin to develop:

Skills in Time Management
Online MTT students are not pursuing their studies full time. Students must juggle career, family and personal interests with their academic/certification pursuits. This is often the biggest challenge students face. Time management skills are perhaps the most important considerations in determining success in a distance learning program.

Determination and Self-Motivation
With the high level of autonomy and flexibility of the Online MTT, students must be self-motivated and determined to stay on track. You'll receive a great deal of support from the OLLU faculty and student support staff. However, even with excellent support services and encouraging faculty, the most successful students are those who motivate themselves, stay focused and push themselves to move forward without much external prompting .

High Comfort Level with Technology
Technology is an important tool for all Master Technology Teacher students. You'll use technology to find and retrieve information, to learn and to communicate with other students, faculty and staff. A high comfort level with technology is important to your success-in fact, technology is what this program is all about. You must be comfortable using a personal computer, e-mail, the Internet and common software programs such as word processors before enrolling in this program. Potential students who have little or no experience with technologies should consider alternative teacher certification programs.

Independent Learning
Successful students take the initiative to learn on their own guided by supportive faculty. Independent does not mean 'isolated' though. You should come into this program prepared to work with other students and instructors on self-initiated projects. The Online MTT is not a place for the timid and passive learning is not possible in this environment. Each professor strives to develop a learning community in the online classroom, but that takes support and participation by students.
