Computer Wired Internet connections - ResNet by Apogee
To connect to the ResNet network for Internet access in residence halls, your system will need:
- An Ethernet network interface (most all new systems include this—a jack that looks like a telephone jack, but 8 pins instead of 4). The icon above the jack on your computer looks like this:
- A Cat 5 Ethernet patch cable of sufficient length to reach from your computer to the Ethernet wall jack in the residence hall room. 10-14 ft. should be fine. (available at all electronics and most discount stores).

Apogee Telecom in Austin provides and manages WIRED Internet services for campus residence halls. So, for any problems with your computer's WIRED connection to the Internet in your room, please call their direct, toll free number:

Voicemail Services
Voicemail services are provided to Resident Assistants' rooms. Other residents desiring message services should provide their own phone voice recorder that may be plugged into the regular phone jack in line with their own phone handset.
Telephone Services
Any problems with your room phone line should be reported to the ITS HelpDesk, ext. 3908. You are responsible for providing your own phone device to plug into the wall phone outlet. The Residence Life office should be able to provide you with your room phone number at move-in time. (Campus system phones are provided to Resident Assistants to facilitate emergency contacts.)
