GENERAL BILITERATE CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS

The ever growing Spanish-speaking population is feeding the need for bilingual and bicultural professionals in all fields. Through the biliterate certification option, students take classes taught in both English and Spanish and are adequately prepared to communicate with Spanish-speaking clients and customers. The following outlines the requirements for those pursuing the Bilterate Certificate option.

Course Requirements:

  • Advanced Spanish Grammar, Reading, Composition I, II
  • Professional Oral and Written Communication in Spanish
  • Choose one of the following:
    • Masterpieces of Spanish Literature
    • Masterpieces of Latin American Literature
    • Survey of Mexican Literature
  • Choose one of the following:
    • Civilization and Culture of Spain
    • Civilization and Culture of Latin America
    • Civilization and Culture of Mexico
    • Spanish in the United States
  • Practicum or internship in Spanish-speaking setting or one semester of study abroad in Spanish-speaking country with capstone project
