SOCIAL WORK DEGREE WITH BILITERATE OPTION

By choosing the biliterate option with a degree in social work, graduates of the program will be prepared to communicate with English and Spanish-speaking clients in a number of social work settings including providing elderly and disabled services, child protective services, federal and state welfare services and a number of community organizations.

Course Requirements

  • Advanced Spanish Grammar, Reading, Composition I, II
  • Social Work Practice in Bilingual-Bicultural Environments or Counseling in Spanish
  • Choose one of the following:
    • Civilization and Culture of Spain
    • Civilization and Culture of Latin America
    • Civilization and Culture of Mexico
    • Spanish in the United States
    • Mexican American Prose and Poetry
  • Practicum in Spanish-speaking setting with capstone project (Social Work Practicum)
