PRE-LAW

Is law school in your future?

Students planning for a career in law can choose from a variety of majors and minors to help prepare for acceptance into law school. There is no one pre-law major, so students should select a major based on areas of interest and strength. Majors that build the analytical and communication skills necessary to gain acceptance and succeed at law school are a good choice.

Law schools look for students who take a challenging course of study, and who perform well on the Law School Admission Test. If you are considering a legal career, consider the following majors and/or minors: English, political science, philosophy and/or criminal justice. Augment your program with classes in logic, accounting, history, public speaking and economics.
