Conference 2013
10th Annual Center for Mexican American Studies
and Research (CMASR) Conference
April 4 - 5, 2013
"Higher Education: Cultural Issues and Cultural Studies"
In celebration of the 10th annual Center for Mexican American Studies and Research conference, we will showcase and promote student and faculty scholarly and creative activities which contribute to a broader and deeper understanding of Mexican American culture and experiences in the U.S.
This year's theme is "Higher Education: Cultural Issues and Cultural Studies." Many of the sessions include research, scholarly and creative expressions reflective of a growing and significant presence of Mexican Americans in the U.S. The focus on higher education is also critical and timely, given the status of Latino/a students in postsecondary education and the political discussion on ethnic studies locally, regionally and nationally.
The two-day conference will include a Student Research Symposium for undergraduate and graduate students and a Higher Education Institute for professional development of faculty and staff in higher education.
