Offering an active and nurturing environment to start your career
By attending OLLU's chemistry undergraduate program, you will find a very active and yet nurturing environment to start your career in a range of different fields including medicine, engineering, pharmacy, and a multitude of other possibilities. Our faculty provide you with one-on-one attention not only with your studies but in advising you in your courses, finding scholarships, career choices, and introducing you to research. It is exciting to try things that no one has ever tried before and at OLLU you even get paid for it. In fact, you can receive from $2,800 per semester and/or $3,500 per summer to perform a chemical research project.
We purposely keep our class sizes small and in all our courses the laboratory portion of each course is always taught by the instructor for the presentation part of the course. We also teach in a manner that you probably have never experienced before. We think students most easily learn chemistry by doing chemistry. At OLLU you will not be sitting listening to a professor show you that he/she knows how to work chemistry problems, instead you will learn chemistry by doing chemistry both in the laboratory and in the classroom. Check out the links to see what we mean.
Your success is our success. Our graduates have entered a range of graduate programs from Yale University's Pharmacology program to Rice University's chemistry program. Many of our graduates also start their career immediately in industry with such companies like Kimberly Clark, DPT Labs, UTHSC and SWRI -- and that's just in San Antonio.
Feel free to give any of our faculty a call and we will be glad to talk to you or give you an onsite tour of our program. Chemistry is fun, and we always enjoy meeting someone new and introduce them to a career that is fun, interesting, and where you can always learn something new.
