STUDY ABROAD / EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

What is Study Abroad?

Study abroad programs provide Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU)
students the opportunity to experience other cultures, and to enhance
their knowledge and understanding of global and cultural issues.

OPTIONS:

Exchange Programs (Fall or Spring Semester)

OLLU has Academic Exchange Agreements with universities in several countries. Please visit the Exchange Programs list online or find an up-to-date listing at the Study Abroad Office.

Students register for classes and pay tuition at OLLU, and financial aid can be used for the program. Before enrolling in Exchange Programs, students must obtain the approval of their academic advisor and the study abroad advisor by following the procedures in the section How to apply online, or you can obtain the Study Abroad Guide at the Study Abroad Office. The approved courses will be transferred to OLLU. Students will be asked to purchase medical insurance and sign a liability waiver.

Program through Third-Party Provider (Fall, Spring or Summer)

There are a number of educational institutions that provide study abroad opportunities. Students are responsible for paying program fees, some of the financial aid will transfer to the study abroad provider. OLLU has signed affiliate agreements with providers. Look for special discounts and scholarships offered. Before enrolling in these programs, students must obtain the approval of their academic advisor and the study abroad advisor by following the procedures in the Study Abroad Guide. The approved courses will be transferred to OLLU. Students will be asked to purchase medical insurance and sign a liability waiver.

Short-term Programs: OLLU sponsored courses and programs

Some OLLU academic programs offer courses taught in international locations. These courses are generally offered during break times and are listed on the course schedules. Ask your professor if there is a short-term program available in your major. Enrollment is usually limited to majors in the discipline. As these are OLLU courses, eligible students can register for them through the regular academic advising procedures. Summer internships in Latin America are offered through the Latin American Studies minor and the dual-language certification program (available to all majors). Participating students purchase medical insurance and sign a liability waiver.

Program through another U.S. University (Fall, Spring or Summer)

There are a number of U.S. universities that have complete study abroad programs. Most of the courses are taught in English and/or in the native language of the host country. Students are responsible for paying program fees, but most financial aid will transfer to the U.S. university sponsoring the study abroad program. Before enrolling in these programs, students must obtain the approval of their academic advisor and the study abroad advisor by following the procedures in the Study Abroad Guide. The approved courses will be transferred to OLLU. Students will be asked to purchase medical insurance and sign a liability waiver.
