Cultivating wisdom

What is reality? What is consciousness? Who are we? And why are we here? Philosophy examines the “big” life questions in both religious and secular contexts and attempts to arrive at logical explanations for larger “truths.”

Students who minor in philosophy study ancient, modern and contemporary philosophical writers and learn to think logically and apply ethics to current issues.

The study of philosophy gives you a tremendous sense of the ideas that have driven Western civilization as well as gives you the ability to derive and articulate cogent arguments.

In addition to OLLU’s high academic standards and our philosophy, which stresses your needs and accomplishments, you will have the opportunity to write and present an undergraduate thesis on a philosophical topic. This provides you with the opportunity to not only study philosophy, but also do philosophy.
