McNair Scholars Program FAQs

All majors are welcome and encouraged to apply.
Seniors are accepted on a very limited basis. The program is intended to assist and
prepare undergraduates for graduate school. Entering the program as a senior limits
our ability to best assist you. However, we are open to supporting senior students
and exploring your future. Visit with the staff to explore your options before determining
your own ineligibility.
No, the McNair Scholars program is designed to offer student research and scholarly
experiences to better prepare you for success in graduate school.
No, McNair Scholars are encouraged to apply to graduate programs that are a best fit
for them.
No, the program is designed to support students currently working on their first bachelor’s
degree.
Research experience is not a requirement for entering the program. In fact, the McNair
Scholars program will provide you with the opportunity and guidance to conduct research.
