The primary goal of the Retention Office is to guide students to graduation at OLLU. The Retention Office collaborates with university faculty and staff to make sure students receive a quality education and have the necessary tools to complete their degree programs.

The office utilizes technology and various campus support staff so that undergraduates have the resources they need through the academic year to be successful. The staff works diligently to assist students as they navigate the college experience. Additionally, the Retention Office staff acts as advocates on behalf of all students to ensure they persist to graduation.

One of the ways the Retention Office supports students is through Retention Alert. Retention Alert is one of the tools used to keep students on the path to graduation. It is a web-based early warning system in which alerts are created based on retention trends or created manually by faculty, advisors, or other university constituents. When a case is created, the advisor and student are contacted immediately. The Retention Office staff follow up with the student, the student's advisor, and the student's faculty to facilitate support efforts.

Alerts are created for the following reasons:
  • Student is underperforming in academic courses
  • Student is displaying negative attendance trends
  • Student is on academic probation
  • Freshmen or sophomores who receive mid-term grades of  C or below
  • Juniors and seniors who receive mid-term grades of D or below

For Parents
The most difficult part of the college transition that parents and students face is getting accustomed to the rigor of college coursework. Parents are urged to continue to encourage your son or daughter during this new journey and the Retention Office will reinforce this effort. We will provide you with the resources to ensure that you are equipped with the information you need to help your son or daughter be more successful. Please feel free to contact us if we can assist you in any way.
